Congratulations to our newest Guide Dog, Donnie

Welcome to the PAWS puppy raiser group.  PAWS is located in Clackamas County,  Oregon and includes the cities of Milwaukie, Clackamas, Oregon City, West Linn, Lake Oswego, Gladstone, and Damascus.  PAWS has been raising puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc. since 1997.  This site is intended to show off our puppies and offer information on puppy raising.  

The Portland Blind Cafe - A Community Awareness Concert and Dinner in the Dark!

Come dine and enjoy a concert in the pitch dark with your friends. All the waiters will be blind or visually impaired. There will be a delicious gluten-free vegetarian/vegan meal prepared to delight your senses.  Your heart and mind will be opened as you discuss issues related to visual impairment, celebrate and explore spacial awareness, indulge in unencumbered music listening (without distraction of visual conditioning, cell phones etc.), build community, make new friends and advocate for a better life for the blind and visually impaired community...all with your waiters and fellow patronage in the dark.

On October 22nd the Hotel Monaco held a welcoming party for their new "Director of Pet Relation", Timmy.  Timmy is a career change dog from Guide Dog for the Blind.  With his help the Hotel Monaco will be the most dog friendly hotel in town.  All proceeds from the party going to Guide Dogs for the Blind.

At a recent graduation ceremony, a raiser recalled the words of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. when he delivered the 1964 Nobel Lecture to describe her feelings that day:

"Occasionally in life there are those moments of unutterable fulfillment which cannot be completely explained by those symbols called words. Their meaning can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the heart."
